Who We Are

Who We Are and Why We’re Here

The physical existence of the Pennsylvania Center for Photography (the Center) is the realization of a long time dream of Henry and Nancy Rowan and reflects a life long interest in the art and science of photography. The mission of the Center is to promote and advance the photographic experience by providing a nurturing environment and resources where photographers of all levels can learn, create, discuss, and show their work.

Our strategic goals are local, regional, and statewide in scope. Locally, we seek to build our viability, visibility, and involvement within the local arts, business, and helping communities and become a valuable resource for Bucks County. Regionally and beyond, we provide and will continue to expand a web-based platform that allows all Pennsylvania photographers, regardless of location, the opportunity to display their talents and discuss photography, in all of its aspects, with others who share their interest.

As a major program component, it is our goal to promote the best activities, events, and places that Pennsylvania has to offer. This is accomplished through photo essays published on the organization’s Treasures of Pennsylvania website and photographers, writers, and organizations are encouraged to participate.
